VWS Golf

Geoff Owers, mathematics department faculty:

Challenges: “A challenge was to get some of the newer players more comfortable and more used to the game of golf.”

Successes: “I think overall, a success was just a lot of players became united from [the season], and a lot of strong leadership came from the team.”

Highlight athlete: “Angie Zhang (‘23) went on to the Southern Section Individual and almost made it to the finals.”

Josie Chow (‘22):

Challenges: “I’d say not much, especially now that we are in-person. I would say masks, but then again in golf you don’t really need that much energy, so you don’t really need to take off your mask. I did get a mask tan though.”

Thoughts on the season: “I think it’s been pretty good. It’s my first year in an actual golf season, and it’s been pretty fun. I actually got to play in person, and the team is really great.”

Favorite memory: “We sometimes went out. There was a time when we got a chance to get dinner together, so us eating at Popeyes was a memorable time.”
