Tech+Challenge

Tech Challenge

From Queen songs to decoding ancient sternographs, Tech Challenge was the experience of a lifetime for Webb students. On this 3-day Unbounded course, the tech office designed various online and tactile technology-related challenges following a storyline of saving Galileo from a broken time machine. Students learned to solder, wire an ethernet cable from scratch, and build a robot. They also built their own badges with RFID chips; each time a challenge was completed and the students scanned the chips, the badge would play a song! Aside from technological aspects, the Webbies decrypted images and decoded keltic runes. At the end of the challenge, the students trekked up to the observatory and “saved Galileo” with a Queen song.

It has been a long time since the last time I laughed so hard and forgot all the school things and enjoyed simple happiness — not to mention that I actually picked up handy skills like soldering, steganography, assembling cars and making breadboard circuits.
