Do not press snooze!
Although it may be tempting to temporarily stop the screeching of your alarm clock for a couple extra minutes of rest, this decision can ultimately be detrimental to how awake you feel throughout the day. The action of going in and out of sleep is called fragmentation, a process that has been shown to increase the sluggish feeling of exhaustion. Consequently, while it may seem like those extra five minutes of sleep will rejuvenate you for the day, this broken sleep schedule may actually be your downfall. Instead, try to get up with the sound of your alarm in the morning. Applications such as Sleep Cycle, which gently wakes the mind with a progressive increase in the volume of the alarm, and Loud Alarm Clock by Alarmy, which requires the user to complete a short puzzle, math problem, or other task to turn the alarm off, are also great alternatives.
