Sony Crackle

One company has already beat Apple’s low price by making their streaming service completely free. Sony’s Crackle is a completely free service that has licensed movies, TV, and also original content. While the service does have ads, it also has more than 35,000 hours of content. Sony recently sold majority stake of the company to Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins says they partnered with Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment to try and revamp their service, and to take advantage of the ad-supported video-on-demand market, seeing that it is “ripe for innovation.”
