Thru-Hiking the California Backcountry

Carrying a 30-pound backpack on at least 10 mile daily hikes through the California backcountry does not sound like the most relaxing Unbounded Days excursion, but to the students who ventured on the trip, it was a deeply rewarding and inspiring experience. First, the backpackers spent a day on Webb’s campus learning about safety in the wilderness and preparing for their trip. Then, they hit the road and drove down to Joshua Treewhere they spent the majority of their Unbounded trip. Students passed their time by hiking, hanging out with new friends, reflecting, and even creating some art. Participants left their course with a greater appreciation of nature, knowledge of hiking and wilderness skills, and memories that will last a lifetime.
