Abbey Cook (‘23)
Abbey Cook (‘23) truly embodies what it means to be a female athlete in our generation. She has played many sports throughout her lifetime such as swim, basketball, dive, softball, and countless others. Her favorite sport by far, though, is soccer. She plays center forward, and she loves scoring goals for her club team, Arsenal FC ECNL. In her first year, she has already broken the VWS record for scoring the most goals in a season with 55 goals. Abbey is also on the Cal South ODP (Olympic Development Program) Team, that won a Regional Championship in January. She advises other females daring to conquer the world of sports to go out there and give it their best.
“Some advice I would possibly give for other athletes is that there are always going to be people out there that are stronger, faster, or taller than you, but just don’t let anyone outwork you because all those other things are aspects that you can’t necessarily control,” said Abbey. “However, the amount of effort and work that you chose to put in is all up to you.”
