Jasmine Wan (‘23) spent a weekend with her family away from the bustling city of Shanghai, as they took a trip to the rural regions in central China to explore the countryside. While China is often known for its towering glass walled skyscrapers and blazing neon signs, Jasmine believes there is a more scenic side of nature that is lesser known to the outside world. Through a variety of activities that included hiking and horseback riding, Jasmine got to spend a fair amount of time with nature where she also got to make good use of her wildlife photography skills. While Jasmine has done quite a bit of hiking herself, it was her first time seeing the unspoiled grassy hills in this part of China.

I would say the trip was a great opportunity for me to get away from the city and the crowds in Shanghai, a place where I could just completely release myself into nature.Jasmine said
