“Jealous,” Eyedress

“You could have anyone you want—why would you want to be with me?” The song opens with a buzzing and humming beat, while the singer mumbles away, voicing his thoughts of not being special. Judging by the title, this song is meant to encapsulate the feeling of jealousy. The overwhelming feeling of jealousy starts out as a deep purple, constantly buzzing under the surface of your mind, only getting darker when you continue to think about it. The repetitive lyrics and the soft but prominent beat of the electric guitar are a deep purple, straying from original idea that green is connected to envy. However, envy and jealousy are not the same, and this song brings out the painful apathy connected to jealousy.
