Emilia Bordage

Most people do not figure out what they want to do until late in their life, but Emilia Bordage has known that she has wanted to be an archeologist since the fourth grade. Her interest in the field stems from her desire to unearth forgotten parts of history and her love for stories about people and their cultures. Knowing this, it is easy to believe that Paleontology is her favorite class at Webb and explains why she spends so much time in the Alf Museum. Her love of storytelling is not limited to talking about things she dug up out from the ground, however. It has also taken her to the Liu Cheung stage as a choreographer for the annual dance show and a member of the spring musical. Aside from her talents for performing, Emilia has disproven the myth of DSP’s “not doing anything” by enthusiastically planning events for seasonal socials and supporting students during evening hours in the library. Emilia has made memorable contributions to Webb as well, like establishing the first ever ofrenda (alter in Spanish) on campus and bringing Chicana altarista (alter maker) Ofilia Esparza to campus for a storytelling session. Next year, Emilia will be taking a break from the fast-paced Webb life to study Anthropology at UC Riverside. She hopes to finally take the wheel of her life both literally and figuratively — and return to Webb as a volunteer at the museum in the future.

[Emilia] is funny but like in a weird way. She’s a very wholesome kind of funny but there’s sometimes where she says some crazy thing and it’s like woah, woah!
