Emily Huang

From singing “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls during her freshman class officer election speech to performing a magic trick in front of 200 students during the executive race, Emily Huang is fearless. Born in California but raised in China until she was nine years old, Emily brings a global perspective to Webb’s campus. Much like her favorite band’s recent Grammy-winning album –– The New Abnormal –– that redefined rock music, Emily has always been willing to embrace risks. Joining the cross-country team during junior year, she persevered under the hot October sun along with her teammates despite never having been a runner, and eventually became the co-captain of the team. Along with her eagerness to try new things, Emily thrived in AdvSt. Gothic and Horror Literature and Culture, where she relished analyzing Dracula and creating her own horror film, always pushing her boundaries of learning. Outside of the classroom, Emily serves as the co-founder and president of the Film Club, where she experiments with various camera footage and video editing formats. During the weekends, she enjoys watching old movies with her family, eating out at the Village with friends, and learning Hebrew through Sunday school. As Emily ventures off to Columbia University in the fall, she plans to major in International Relations and explore novel subjects across various disciplines. She will miss planning Theme Nights and falling madly in love with artists after attending their concerts in LA, but she will continue to have an open mind in the cosmopolitan environment of New York City.

Emily is the big film bro without all the annoying personality traits. She’s always willing to sit through an insanely long study session just because we’re committed, or pick up the phone and listen to me rant about whatever stupid thing is going on.
