[Isabella and I] spent a lot of time working on her application and resume for her job as a cancer researcher. It was a lot of fun watching her develop and put forth a version of herself forward for a job. She brought a level of perseverance towards fighting a battle that most people won’t, and that gave her the drive to not only fight her own battle but fight it for everybody else, and she did it every day in the lab that eventually became a paid position instead of just an internship. She was a ball of energy, and when it was something she was super passionate about, she always talked a mile per minute, just a stream of consciousness. Isabella’s place in this community was one of joy and inspiration, and that if the world was on fire, she always brought water.
