Isabella Saeedy

In loving memory of our beloved classmate, Isabella Saeedy.

Knowing Isabella has made me appreciate the joy and the people around me because of the unique way that she looked at the world. An afternoon with her was never wasted; she was always taking me on adventures, even if it was just running around aimlessly in our small hometown.

Isa was someone who knew what I felt without needing a verbal explanation. Her eyes spoke volumes, giving me the peace and comfort I needed at my lows. I shared with her some of my happiest memories at Webb – moments that are weird and impossible to fully explain because no one would understand unless they were there sharing her laugh, quirky one-liners, and everlasting joie de vivre. She will be in my heart, forever and always.

Isabella is that one kind of friend that you meet and don’t expect to become friends with, but when you do, you realize how great she is. I’ve never had a friend like her, and she was always down for whatever — I felt at home with her. My best memories with her might not be too special, but we would always hang out in Hooper and watch movies or something. Even if it was bad, we would clown on it and even if it was boring, just being with her made everything a thousand times better.

She was goofy. I remember there was a toy we saw — a bean shaped unicorn — and she was like: is that a personalized tampon? And I was like, is that a unicorn? And we both lost it. Anyways, Isabella was always very considerate, and she was goofy because she embraced life to the fullest. Even the smallest of things, she was always ready to laugh at.

She radiates unwavering sunshine, even on the coldest of days. She is the yellow flowers that sprout in the toughest of spots. She embodies the essence of every poem and resonating song, infusing them with her spirit. She is the tranquil beach, the brilliant stars, and the soft grass. I am grateful that she is my friend.

Isabella was the type of girl you can never truly ignore. We went from an empty text conversation to discussing class and college gossip to spontaneous boba trips after advisory dinner. She had a way of creeping into your thoughts until you realize—shoot, we’re friends! Her absence has left a hole in my heart that I never knew I had.

Isabella was my first friend back in junior year after the pandemic, and I will always remember her as someone who extended a hand for me to grab and pull myself out of a dark space. We would always laugh at what dessert Mrs. Jeantete would bring for the DSPs, film wacky videos for experimental literature, and talk about the most random things because we could. She is inspiring — the strongest girl I know — and I hope people can remember her for her adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and always smiling face and mind that lights up any room, big or small.

[Isabella and I] spent a lot of time working on her application and resume for her job as a cancer researcher. It was a lot of fun watching her develop and put forth a version of herself forward for a job. She brought a level of perseverance towards fighting a battle that most people won’t, and that gave her the drive to not only fight her own battle but fight it for everybody else, and she did it every day in the lab that eventually became a paid position instead of just an internship. She was a ball of energy, and when it was something she was super passionate about, she always talked a mile per minute, just a stream of consciousness. Isabella’s place in this community was one of joy and inspiration, and that if the world was on fire, she always brought water.

— Mr. Brian Kays, Isabella's advisor

I don’t want to change the world and be an inspiration because of what I have, but because of who I am. I am not cancer. I am Isabella.
