Garrett Cordova-Caddes

Garrett Cordova-Caddes, or GCC for short, is described by his friends as a man of few words. However, underneath his mysterious demeanor lies an athletic, humorous, intellectual, and respectable man. He brings two years of cross country and track captain experience to the table and dominates events such as the 400-meter, 1600-meter, and 3200-meter races. Garrett lets his actions speak for his words and is regarded as a leader on and off the track. Apart from Garrett’s athleticism, he has served as an Honor Committee member for the past two years. Garrett does not recall many mistakes during his time at Webb, but when he does make one, you can find him uncontrollably laughing at himself. Brian Caldwell, mathematics teacher and cross-country coach, is Garrett’s favorite adult on campus, Mr. Caldwell has always embraced Garrett’s self-absorbed humor. At Garrett’s first Cross Country meet, near the finish line, Mr. Caldwell shouted words of tough love as he challenged Garrett to push Garrett across the finish line. This event was defining for Garrett because it made him realize Mr. Caldwell held him in a fond place in his heart. After this moment, Garrett could never back down from a challenge and pushed himself like never before to finish amongst the top competitors in the meet. When Garrett graduates from high school, he plans to attend Hamilton College in Clinton, New York where he will minor in Medieval History and major in Creative Writing. In the future, you might catch Garrett’s bestselling book in Barnes and Noble, which will most likely be something related to Science Fiction. Although many speculate Garrett as a man of few words, his aspiration of being a writer and long conversations with anybody may prove that he not such a man of few words after all!

Garrett reminds me of an octopus: super rare, smart, and unique.
