Jasmine+Wan

Jasmine Wan

Jasmine Wan is addicted to the feeling that filmmaking brings. From writing her own script and directing on set to seeing her works displayed in film festivals, she finds herself transported to a world of endless possibilities whenever she is producing films. There are no constraints by ordinary life in this universe, because Jasmine has the power to create the stories of various, vivid characters and experience their adventures. However, the joy of filmmaking extends beyond using layered camera language to construct an alternate reality. To Jasmine, the loving and supportive community behind the scenes has motivated her in not only her film journey, but also in everyday life, whether back in her hometown of Shanghai, creating her thesis film with two other friends in an abandoned factory or here at Webb, or playing on the varsity volleyball team as a setter. Sharing her creativity with the Webb community, Jasmine’s thoughtful contributions in humanities classes bring fresh insight in analyzing literary work. Her paintings and films, whenever displayed in the Art Café, always manage to attract viewers’ attention. As the end credits for her Webb journey begin to roll, Jasmine will continue her passion for filmmaking at USC School of Cinematic Arts next fall, exploring other areas of interest such as computer science and business. It is not only her brilliantly crafted films that will make a mark on the world in the future, but also the dazzling presence of Jasmine herself.

When Jasmine is with teachers or friends that are not super close with her, she would laugh in a very gentle way, like ‘hehehehehe.’ And when she is with us, she would laugh like, ‘HAHAHAHAHA.’
