Daniel Hu

Ever come across someone with the work ethic of a CEO and the running speed of a cheetah zooming across Webb’s campus? If you have, chances are that the person was Daniel Hu, an exemplary model of the maxim “work hard play hard,” as he embraced the role of senior class president and varsity soccer captain. Originally born on the East Coast in New Jersey, Daniel, better known as DHu, grew up in Shanghai, China. This is where he first discovered his love for soccer, a life-long passion. Although he comes off as always being productive, he does wish he spent more of his time during COVID-19 doing something other than scoring bangers on FIFA ‘23 with friends online. The Welcome–Back Dance in Ruddick freshman year will never top any other Webb event for DHu, but whenever he feels a little down, reminiscing on the old days, a little bit of Justin Bieber’s music or rewatching The Shawshank Redemption always brightens his mood. Movies are nothing compared to what a short marathon can do for DHu, though. Mr. Caldwell has been a role model for Daniel and has brought out a love for cross country he never knew he had. Although Daniel will miss the luxury of a dorm to himself, he looks forward to making new memories while devoting his time to studying Economics at Emory University and hopefully running a full marathon one day in his bright future.
