Jack Messina

There are many ways in which Jack Messina’s name can be applied to his personality. The first, and perhaps more glaring, is as a jack-in-the-box — his surprising and sometimes startling sense of humor is most often described as “out-of-pocket.“ Beneath this joking exterior, though, lies so much more. For instance, one of Jack’s favorite pastimes is cooking. Although Jack brings his signature flair into everything he does — making masochistically hot hot sauce out of some of the spiciest peppers in the world (Trinidad Scorpion, Carolina Reaper, and Ghost), citric acid, and lime juice, for instance — he also puts in an immense amount of care and dedication. With this comes Jack’s next title: the jack of all trades. Because while Jack’s ideas might be a little eccentric (like bringing a confetti cannon to a homecoming proposal), he truly works hard at everything he does. Theatre Tech? Jack is double majoring in computer science and computer engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology. Reading? Jack has read almost any fantasy (his favorite genre) book you could think of, from the teen fiction series Wings of Fire to the much more philosophical science fiction Ender’s Game. Social connection? While Jack may not hold the most conventional conversations, his friends describe him as a deeply caring person who is, above all, unafraid to be himself. All of this brings you to one final name: Jack, meaning grace. And Jack Messina is truly graceful in his unpredictability – in all the best ways.
