Catalina Island: History, Science & Culture

What I really liked about the Catalina Island: History, Science & Culture trip was that it bonded me with people that I don’t talk to on a daily basis through common interests like snorkeling and hiking.

What do Mr. Lawrence, a shark, and bomb Mexican food have in common? They could all be found during Webb Unbounded Days! For three days and two nights, students on the Catalina Island: History, Science & Culture trip braved the elements as they slept in bone-chilling temperatures, snorkeled face-to-face with an abundance of sea life, and hiked to lookouts overseeing the island’s scenic port. The 24 juniors and seniors enjoyed classic camping traditions like making s’mores around the fire and alternating between one lukewarm shower. When they were not shooing foxes away from their food, the students were having a blast in Avalon, eating $1 tacos, watching Black Panther in the famous casino-turned-theater, and visiting the unique souvenir shops. There is lots of fun to be had on this trip, just don’t forget the dramamine!
