Webbies danced the night away on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 to determine the ultimate winner of Theme Night and in turn, Theme Week. Adorned in their class colors to show spirit and unity, each class worked together to coreograph, practice, and organize a dance. “Theme night was really exciting because it gave me a chance to talk to people in my class,” said Jarra Jallow (‘25). “It was almost like an ice breaker for people who don’t know each other as well, it brought us together through class spirit.” Each class drumrolled in anticipation, watch to find out.

About the Contributors

Berklee Antecol, Chief of Social Media
Berklee Antecol (‘25) radiates like the sun, and loves to embrace the thrilling waves of the sea. As a surfer of the sea, she is always up for a new adventure. Just like her recent upgrade of her favorite meal from chicken nuggets to steak and fries. Her love for numbers and market analysis leads her to be a top student in math and economic courses at Webb. Berklee strives to work in the analytical side of the fashion industry, but she spent her summer exploring other fields of expertise, including an internship at an AI company. Her optimistic energy shines through her work as a peer advisor and admission ambassador. She is driven by her desire to spread kindness and her love to engage with everyone in the community. This year, Berklee aims to become more flexible with her content planning in newsroom as Chief of Social Media of the Webb Canyon Chronicle.

Ava Crane, Copy Editor
The smack of a volleyball against hardwood, the clang of a barbell hitting the rack, the aroma of peach dumplings cooling on the counter: for Ava Crane (‘27), movement is more than exercise. It’s her way of finding balance; it’s her way of staying grounded. You can usually spot her on the volleyball court, whether it’s playing as the right-side hitter or cheering on her friends, or in her garage lifting weights with Lorde blasting through her headphones. At other times, she might be baking peach dumplings or testing new desserts for her friends. With school, sports, and being a day student prefect, her schedule can feel overwhelming at times. However, she always finds time for her hobbies, which help her relieve stress and find balance. “Sometimes I feel like my life is spiraling out of control, but when I’m in the gym…I can just breathe for a second,” Ava said. Yet even with such a packed schedule, Ava tries to stay positive and empathetic, taking time to remind herself that “we’re all just living on a floating rock.” Whether spiking three aces in her first varsity game or making time to bake for the people she cares about, Ava will always find moments, physical, emotional, or creative, that act as anchors to keep her moving forward amidst the chaos.
