Bringing holiday spirit to campus not only takes money, time, and care but also large amounts of human effort. With homework assignments and summatives stacking up before winter break, Webb students are not only worried about completing them, but also about maintaining decent grades for the semester. Prefects and dorm heads have worked diligently to embellish the campus with Christmas decorations, easing the experience of the student body in these last few challenging weeks. “I liked all the decorations at the winter party – the Christmas tree was a nice addition to Ruddick room, and the lights were amazing as well,” Larry said. “They lightened up the mood.”

Andy Liu, Chief of Media
For Andy Liu (’26), writing is both a mirror and a megaphone—a way to express himself and amplify voices around him. Andy is a storyteller through and through. In one of his works, a prose-like poem about the card game Dou Dizhu, he shares feelings of family love and connection. Crafted with care, his works are imbued with emotion and feeling. Yet, for Andy, writing isn’t without its challenges. Not a stranger to self-doubt, he recalls studying the dictionary to learn words that would help him fit in. Despite these feelings of isolation, Andy didn’t stop—the hardship could only be a path towards something greater. His understanding of writing deepened, and he realized that telling stories is about expressing feelings, the raw, internal emotions within. His goals aren’t limited to himself as Andy focuses on elevating the work of others. His passion for bringing voices to the ignored and struggling lives in Stepping Stones Literary Magazine, his solution to the injustice of the publishing world. He creates an unbiased and fair way for people around the world to publish their work without the difficulty of unjustified rejections. Further, his role as the chief of media for the Webb Canyon Chronicle only further proves his innate ability to project the voices of others. Like a true megaphone, Andy is the man before the crowd, voice in hand, ready to share the stories of the world.

Zona Zhou, Editor-in-Chief
Out of the 18,224,271 people who listen to Clairo monthly on Spotify, there is only one who has interviewed a terrorist: Zona Zhou (‘26). While most people listen to Clairo to set a dreamy, whimsical mood, Zona turns on her music before taking on debate opponents and demanding the stage during the spring musical. The term “calm chaos” was invented for Zona. Equanimous and dedicated, Zona spent this past summer competing at NSDA Nationals and attending a program at Notre Dame. She is fueled by her unrelenting passion for politics and peace work, hoping to explore both in her future. While Zona’s part-time life is reminiscent of an episode of the lawyer drama “Suits” (her favorite show), the other half of her life resembles a Clairo song. Zona habitually relishes the calmness of tranquil activities, such as going to the beach, cafe-hopping, singing, playing both the guitar and piano, and writing. Passion soaks into everything Zona does, whether calm or chaotic, and she utilizes it to spearhead change. Last spring, while those who attended the spring-break trip to Ireland hosted by Webb solely remember the quietness of the cascading landscape, Zona remembers being inspired to return to Ireland in the Spring to interview a peace organization leader whom she met. She brings the same level of empathy to Webb, where she looks after freshmen in her dorm, despite not being a dorm prefect. As editor-in-chief of the Webb Canyon Chronicle this year, Zona wants to lead a purpose-driven, passionate, and multifaceted publication. Whether she’s fighting for change or serenely singing along to Clairo, Zona is someone who you can count on to give you her all.
