Chijioke Mgbeke, Staff Writer
Meet Chijioke Mgbeke (‘27), a sophomore who embodies a ray of sunshine. If you ever pass by her on campus, even if you’ve only talked to her once, expect a loud "Hi!” with a beaming look across her face. Chijioke doesn’t shy away from talking to others; she believes in creating a Webb community that is inclusive to all. She furthers this goal in her leadership roles as an admission ambassador and a student government commissioner of social activities and events. In these positions, Chijioke focuses on the student body's needs by organizing community events like the welcome back dance and theme week categories. Her strong skills in collaboration and advocacy are also reflected in her role as a member of the Black Affinity group on campus. Here, she has helped the Black Affinity group organize community events during Black History month where she shared Nigeran food and clothing. Aligned with her strong connection to her ethnicity, Chijioke’s interests in Nigeria's politics and economy sparked her passion to become a corporate lawyer in the future. As a first-year staff editor at the WCC, Chijioke hopes to bring her skills and interests to the publication room. She looks forwards to creating a transparent and inclusive community on campus by shedding light on news at Webb.
