Wearing pajamas in the midst of a heavy summative week is inevitable for most, yet Jacky Qi consistently shows up decked out in the most fashionable designer outfits. Since his freshman year, Jacky has expressed his artistic mind through bold projects—whether paintings, crafting sculptures, or his notably massive displays in art cafes. Whether he’s designing propaganda posters for Advanced Studies The Cold War Era simulations or passionately debating various ideals in Advanced Studies Atlantic Revolutions, Jacky throws himself into every task with unmatched energy. This infectious energy also shines through in his free time—whether he’s hanging out with friends, adding to his beloved Jellycat collection, or listening to “White Ferrari” by Frank Ocean, a song he played over 400 times last year. Born in China and later moving to Yorba Linda, Jacky learned early on how to adapt and express himself in new environments. That flexibility shaped not only his worldview, but also his bold sense of fashion and art. Now heading to UCSD to study political science with dreams of pursuing law, Jacky ultimately hopes to open an art café—a vision rooted in his four-year journey as an artist and as Café 1175’s biggest supporter. As Jacky begins styling himself for judicial court, Webb—and especially Cafe 1175—will miss the bold mark of his presence.
