If you ever see a big group of seniors chatting in Fawcett Library or Price Dining Hall during long lunch, chances are Jay Pang is one of them. Jay established a community of friends and those he cares about—whether it’s doodling on whiteboards, building games for neurodivergent students, or leading the community as head day student prefect. Jay always builds meaningful connections on and off campus. His favorite memories are walking a hundred miles across Spain on pilgrimage with friends during February break, hotpot dinners with seventeen friends squeezed around a table, and designing creative projects that pull in students from across the country. His love for novelty and quality time with friends inspired him to become an active member of the Webb community. Everyone has seen his iconic ducks dispersed on the whiteboards across campus, his pointy mouthed spirit animals. He started drawing these ducks in freshman year, and since then has never stopped because they seemed to bring happiness to people who came across them. His art has since then been published in Webb’s literary magazine, reaching an even bigger community of passionate readers. Jay believes that Webb isn’t defined by its place, but by its people, a belief he lived out by gathering a huge circle of friends and connections. As he heads to UC Berkeley to study cognitive science, Jay hopes to help more of those who he cares about and continue to bring happiness to others.
