Whenever the Webb varsity tennis team has an upcoming CIF match, David Liu is always the first to scout out every player, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses and crafting the smartest possible lineup. A three-year varsity athlete and co-leader of the Tennis Club, David’s dedication extends far beyond the baseline. He’s spent two years on the FTC robotics team, designing scoring mechanisms, building odometry pods to lower costs for the community, and mentoring freshmen, so that his robotics team, 359, will continue to thrive after he graduates. David also runs the Veterans Club, giving local service members a platform to share stories and connect with peers. On the honor council, he approached every case with the same meticulous care and unwavering dedication that define his athletic and extracurricular pursuits. Next year, he heads to UC Berkeley, where he’ll study Business (likely doubling up in a STEM field), carrying the same level of strategic vision he has shown to Webb.
