Whether on the tennis court, in the science lab, or serving noodles during Lunar New Year, Jonas Sun has spent his four years at Webb embodying integrity, curiosity, and quiet leadership. A four-year member of the tennis team, Jonas began playing without knowing how to hold a racket—today, he’s not only a formidable player, but a teammate known for his dedication, sportsmanship, and loopy forehands that leave opponents scrambling. Off the court, his intellectual creativity continues to shine at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). His project GazeLink—an eye-tracking communication app for individuals with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis—earned second place in the systems software category. As a member of the honor council, Jonas approaches each case with care, listening attentively and weighing every perspective before helping to determine a fair consequence. Whether it is helping underclassmen with coding or redesigning the Webb school seal, he embodies the “serving spirit” in every part of his life. This June, Jonas leaves Webb not just with accolades, but with the deep respect for a community he has quietly shaped through action and heart. Next year, he will bring that same thoughtful excellence to MIT, where he will study Mechanical Engineering.
