You could say Lucas Cardenas walks by faith, not by sight—unless he’s sketching. A man grounded in spirituality, creativity, and a flair for the unexpected, Lucas has spent his years at Webb pursuing what matters most: faith, art, and the thrill of trying something new. Whether he’s lost in a detailed drawing in Honors Art, unexpectedly falling in love with neuroscience, or scrambling up a rock wall for the first time, Lucas thrives when he steps outside his comfort zone. His relationship with God has guided him through every twist—from chaotic moments like dodging pies during Zombie Apocalypse with Hector Vargas (‘25), to navigating the deeper challenges of high school. His favorite book of the Bible, Romans, speaks to him personally—it’s a message of transformation, humility, and grace, values Lucas tries to embody daily. He’s especially drawn to its call for authentic living and perseverance, two things that have defined his growth at Webb. Lucas’s faith also shapes the way he builds relationships—with his brother Sam, his pastor, and everyone lucky enough to know him. This fall, Lucas will take that same spirit to Tarleton State in Texas, where he’ll study engineering. For him, success isn’t measured in trophies but in how you walk the path laid out for you—with curiosity, heart, and faith.
