If you’ve ever walked past the robotics lab after dinner, chances are you saw Jake Hui still there, surrounded by the soft whir of machines and the quiet laughter of teammates and friends. Jake didn’t just join robotics, he lived it. For all four years at Webb, Jake poured his time, energy, and identity into the Webb Robotics team. “People know me as one of the robotics kids,” Jake said, “always doing robotics, always talking about it.” From day one at Webb, Jake has found his home in the robotics lab. As the team’s main mechanic and a guiding presence, he helped train new members, run projects, and keep the lab running into the night, sometimes just for the joy of being there. What started as a random freshman-year activity choice quickly became the core of Jake’s Webb experience. If you ask Jake what he’ll miss the most from Webb, it would not just be the robots, but the freedom to utilize the lab space, the trust of the teachers, and the deep friendships built over hangouts near the old chandler lab. If you wish to know who Jake truly is, don’t ask. Just walk down to the robotics lab.

Bella Schnurer, Staff Writer
From outsmarting her friends on the chessboard to dreaming of opening a wildlife sanctuary, Bella Schnurer’s (‘27) world is a mix of strategy and creativity. Although she only started playing chess two years ago following a light-hearted competition with a friend quickly transformed into an earnest pursuit. Bella’s dedication led her to a chess academy, where she trains regularly, determined to achieve a Woman FIDE Master title someday. Today, she balances her time between studying and volunteering at a non-profit chess organization, where she shares her love for the game by teaching others. Beyond the pawns, rooks and queens, Bella’s aspirations range from entrepreneurship to maintaining shelter for animals in Africa. With her sights set high and a love for learning and exploring, Bella has the spirit of a true strategist — always planning her next move. This year, she’s eager to bring her very own perspective and storytelling skills to the Webb Canyon Chronicle, capturing the interests and passions of her peers through her writing.
