For Eric Bi, high school wasn’t just about grades or medals, it was about becoming someone thoughtful, curious, and quietly driven. From Science Olympiad marathons to late-night coding sessions, every experience helped shape the person he is today and drive him towards the future. Through tinkering with intricate builds or discussing complex problems with teammates, Eric learned how to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and grow from setbacks. “I’ve learned to be okay with failure as long as I learn something from it,” Eric said. He reflects on how competition losses or experiments gone wrong often taught him more than successes. Over time, he grew from a quiet kid who loved learning to a reflective leader who values discipline, adaptability, and the process more than the outcome. What stands out about Eric isn’t just what he knows, but how he carries the lessons he’s learned. He leaves high school with more than academic knowledge; he carries a mindset shaped by experience, grounded in growth, and ready for whatever challenge comes next as he prepares to open a new chapter at UPenn.
