Joyce dreams of owning a restaurant. At first, this might surprise you, but soon it makes perfect sense—Joyce has always been someone who builds community wherever she goes. Originally from Beijing, China, she has found a second home at Webb, where she shares late-night talks, good food, and spontaneous LA trips with close friends. Her warmth and humor draw people in, forming bonds that stretch beyond the classroom—like the ones she shares with Dr. Nguyen and Mr. Caldwell. Though calculus wasn’t her favorite subject—she’d rather be in art—their friendships were rooted in moments of connection: tea parties, karaoke, and cooing over dogs. Joyce creates belonging through the small things, whether it’s her colorful, love-filled paintings or the way she shows up for the people around her. Her dream of opening a restaurant reflects that same spirit. It’s not just about serving food, but rather about offering a space where people come together and find belonging. In every part of her life, Joyce makes room for others. The restaurant is simply the next space where everyone feels welcome, a place made possible by Joyce.
