Geniya Parker, Editor of Culture and Lifestyle
A basketball game can’t exist without a net. At Webb, Geniya Parker (’26) is the net that keeps everything from falling apart. Born in New York, moving to New Jersey, then to California, Geniya has woven connections in every place she’s called home. Her magic for bringing people together shines brightest on the basketball court. As a varsity girls basketball athlete, Geniya champions the “mind-to-ball connection,” making sure her teammates move as one and no one gets left behind. Off the court, Geniya carries the same spirit. Whether hopping on phone calls with clients at Orangetheory Fitness, where she worked over the summer, or welcoming prospective Webb students as an admission fellow, Geniya knots together different strands of community, no matter where people come from or who they are. And if you want to see her knot, look no further than events like Theme Week and Prom, where she weaves a community of 400 into her net. Yet even on her own, Geniya continues to foster connection. Curled up with her favorite book—”A Little Life”—for what feels like the 103,729th time, she threads similar scenes of joy and friendship into her own life, holding gratitude even when others call it a depressing read. Be it on a packed court, at a Webb event, or a moment with herself, Geniya is the net that holds everyone together.
