Kaia Yee, Staff Writer

The air is humid, the sun is blazing, and the shopping bags weigh heavy on her wrist; for many, this would be a nightmare, but for Kaia Yee (‘28), it’s an ideal day. Much like her favorite film, “The Devil Wears Prada,” Kaia’s dedication to her passions in the face of inevitable hurdles is only comparable to that of the diva herself, Miranda Priestly, brought to life by Meryl Streep. Whether she’s sprinting down the track for Webb’s varsity team, setting on the volleyball court, volunteering at her local animal shelter, or shopping for the perfect statement piece, Kaia approaches each challenge with a dedication that stitches together even the most far-fetched opportunities into runway-ready results. This summer, her commitment to pursuing new challenges took her all the way to New York for the Vogue Summer School, where she learned directly from industry professionals. Shaped by experiences across continents, Kaia has developed a unique worldview that fuels her ability to draw inspiration from everywhere, from the streets of New York to the hubs of Japan, China, Germany, the UK, and Norway. That sense of inspiration carries into her daily life as well. When she’s not dashing from shop to shop or place to place, she unwinds by baking Swiss roll cakes and scones for the people she loves, using this as a creative avenue to continue her stylistic expression. Applying her learned unyielding resolve to find the perfect fit, along with the new perspectives gained from her travels, Kaia is ready to lock in this year, bringing her stylish eye and growing confidence to the Webb Canyon Chronicle.
