Once again, Halloween has fallen on a weekday, leaving boarding students in distress about what their Halloween options can be. Do not fret! Here is what Webb is doing to ensure a great time.
Many boarding students are worried about feeling trapped on campus while seeing their day student friends go out and trick-or-treat wherever they want.
“I feel worried that I am not going to have enough time [off campus],” said Aaden Mozia (‘26). “Also feeling stuck on campus that day while day students can just go out and have fun would [be unfair].”
Similar to other years’ Halloween, there will be off-campus permissions on October 31st this year too, even given it is a Thursday.
“We are going to provide off-campus opportunities like a Tuesday dinner pass, but on Thursday for Halloween,” said Dean Tadeo, Dean of Residential Life. “Students can sign out from 4:30 pm until nine o’clock.”
Busy boarding students who cannot get off campus on Thursday will still have on-campus Halloween activities, such as trick-or-treating.
“The prefects will be handing out candy in their dorms starting at 7:00 pm,” Dean Tadeo said. “We all bought candy for all the dorms to have and for Webb students to experience trick-or-treat on-campus.”
“Halloweekend” at Webb does not stop there. The peer advisor event, the iconic Zombie Apocalypse, is back and better than ever, with new locations and more. This event will take place on Friday November 1st starting off at 6:00 pm. Get ready to be chased, follow clues, and get the chance to win special prizes.
“The players usually run around campus trying to go to the locations that the riddles describe without getting tagged,” said Jarra Jallow, head peer advisor. “My favorite part is when the winner and the best cheater pie a PA.”
After the Zombie Apocalypse is the day student prefect and dorm prefect event: the haunted house. This will also occur on Friday November 1st. It will directly follow the Zombie Apocalypse to ensure your fun will not be ending right at 9:00 pm, but instead keep the party going late.
“The prefects are doing a haunted house in the old school house,” said Sydney Mildon (‘25) head dorm prefect of Appleby. “We are also partnering with the day student prefects to put on a Halloween movie night at Stockdale… there will be snacks and pumpkin carving.”
All of these fun events are in place to guarantee fun for both day and boarding students. All day students are welcome to the on-campus events, and everyone has off-campus permissions as long as they follow our traditional procedures.
