Vietnamese American television personality, Jenn Tran’s media presence began when she stepped into a room with 32 women fighting for the love of The Bachelor contestant, Joey Graziadei. Though Jenn was eliminated in the seventh week, her time on The Bachelor marked a lasting print on the audience’s eyes.
“Jenn’s time on The Bachelorette definitely gave her lots of publicity and, while I haven’t seen the show, I know that it was how she was known coming into the Dancing with the Stars competition,” Maddie Levia (‘27) said.
Jenn’s captivating energy on screen led the producers of The Bachelorette to pick Jen for season 21 of The Bachelorette’s.
“She leaves an impression because of her upbeat energy and her really pretty face,” Bella Schnurer (‘27) said. “I feel [like] Jen’s presence brings exposure to different cultures. When I watch a reality show, I usually see Caucasians; but bringing more nationalities on reality TV, I think, increases viewers like [me] to see someone on the media who looks like [themselves].”
With 25 men fighting to win Jen’s heart, her season, like previous seasons of The Bachelorette, was filled love, drama, conflicts, and many emotions.
What made Jenn’s season so unique from the previous ones was her ending. As with any other The Bachelorette seasons, the last episode ends with two men fighting to win the Bachelorette’s heart. This season, Jen chose Devin Strader. However, what was assumed to be happy ever after ended in a messy separation. Just two months after the last episode, Devin had called off the engagement with Jenn over the phone.
After Jenn’s engagement was called off, she received an immense amount of attention and support on social media platforms.
Following her appearance on The Bachelorette, producers from Dancing with the Stars offered her a spot to appear on season 33. With no prior experience in dancing, Jenn decided to embark on a new experience by accepting the invitation to participate in the show where she would partner Sasha Faber.
“While Jenn had zero dance experience before going on the show, she significantly improved week after week. Her Viennese waltz from week three demonstrated her progression in her ability to dance ballroom styles with elegance and fluidity,” Maddie said. “In the beginning of the choreography, she danced alone, without her partner, with a group of pro dancers; she fit right in.”
By accepting this position, Jen’s publicity grew even more.
“I feel like having this exposure online and [on] social media, after The Bachelorette, people start wondering what happened to her on the show,” Bella said. “I’ve also seen her on TikTok. I feel like the audience of Dancing with the Stars and the audience of TikTok are common, and there’s a similarity in viewers, so that’s one way she gained more media popularity.”
On episode 7, Jenn and her partner Sasha were eliminated. Though Jenn did not make it to the final round, her time on Dancing with the Stars opened a large door to expanding her presence and popularity in the pop culture entertainment industry.
“I remember her dance because I think it was very emotional. I think her choice to dance with the stars showed that she wanted to portray her emotions after [she ended] in The Bachelorette and [was] seen in a different light. Often, we think Dancing with the Stars is just a dance, but this one was more of a personal journey for her, and I thought that was a beautiful message,” Tychelle Moore-Culpeper (‘27) said.
With her time on Dancing with the Stars finishing, Jenn’s social media presence has increased, opening more doors for what’s to come.
