Someone zooms past you in red sambas. “Who was that? “You think to yourself. That was probably Felipe Murillo walking by with headphones and a fashionable fit. While Felipe’s stylish outfits make him come off as nonchalant, he is far from it. Felipe is a friendly face for everyone on campus, whether that in soccer, playing midfield, in Jay Song’s dorm room, or in the freshman seminar classroom where he takes on the role of peer advisor. Felipe is a friendly face for everyone on campus—whether he’s playing midfield on the soccer field, hanging out in Jay Song’s dorm room, or guiding freshmen as a peer advisor. Besides being described as having a friendly face, his friends would describe him as a beautiful, majestic man. So next year, if you’re looking for Felipe, look down at the ground, and maybe you’ll find his red shoes, or look up for a model walking in the distance. Felipe will miss giving friendly “What’s ups!” next year but, but he can’t wait to start his new journey in Los Angeles, ready for a new TikTok backdrop.

About the Contributor

Sohum Uppal, Editor of Sports
With an active pursuit in journalism for the past three years, Sohum Uppal (‘25) is entering his senior year with an aim to produce more high-quality work for the Webb Canyon Chronicle along with a plan to create a new series of video journals. Sohum is a talented builder of beauty in his family and community. His creations include complex motorbikes and delicious meals. Passionate about mechanics, this year Sohum is committed to fixing his motorcycle, an old Yamaha. He also wishes to get a car of his own as he enjoys driving just as much. During his free time, Sohum likes to cook for his family. He loves making Mexican food the most, and his favorite dish is chicken burritos, which blends a lot of flavors together. Sohum’s journey of beauty-building extends further, as he also strives to cultivate a more beautiful community. As someone who is concerned about homelessness and mental health issues, Sohum plans to advocate for and reach out to help those troubled by the issues this following year. He recognizes how these groups of people often fade into backgrounds of the busy lives people are leading; he hopes that more people in need of help can be seen and heard, and he will put up posters for the affinity groups and cook meals for the homelessness. Willing to serve and contribute to the Webb community, Sohum is ready to create more beauty in others’ lives this year.
