Even with the cold environment, each student’s personal style shines through their chosen tops, bottoms, and accessories.

Winter fashion at Webb withstands the cold weather

As we transition from 2022 to 2023, we reflect on the music that Webb students have listened to in the past year. We gathered 50 samples of students’ annual Spotify Wrapped features, which summarize users’ favorite genres, artists, and songs in quantitative and qualitative statistics. We then compiled these data sets to create Webb Wrapped. Lets dive in!

Webb’s First Winter Formal: Enjoying the winter-ful time

Standing in his dorm, Alamo, Daniel Hu (‘23) grins while holding up his American passport. A Shanghai native, Daniel has not been home since August 7th, 2021, which is also the last date he saw his dad and grandparents who live in China. This is due to the zero-Covid policy in China that has barred foreigners from entering China for the past two years without long quarantine requirements. Upon learning about the callback of China’s zero-Covid policy, Daniel booked a ticket back home for spring break, ecstatic to finally be able to use his passport.

Kaitlyn Metz (‘25) and Christina Young (‘25) get drenched by the rain on Tuesday, January 10th after getting coffee from Café 1175. “It wasn’t even raining when we went to Hooper for coffee, but when we came out, we got soaked,” said Christina Young (‘25). The rain continued on and off for the rest of the day.

Webb engages in climate change initiatives with future development

Candles, flowers, and masks drenched in red paint were placed at the vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles on November 27th, 2022. An old propaganda from the Cultural Revolution saying “smash the old world, build the new world” (打碎旧世界，创立新世界) was reclaimed as a statement against the government. These objects symbolized resistance against zero covid policies and the violence brought by the CCP.
