During the Hiking the Trans-Catalina Trail Unbounded Trip, participants endure one of the most demanding yet rewarding backpacking trails. Students encountered beautiful scenery and built new friendships. “This trip pushed me out of my comfort zone, and we ended up camping in some incredible spots,” Frannie Hinch (‘25) said.

Before entering the United States Courthouse for the Central District of Los Angeles for a criminal trial and meeting with Judge Maame Frimpong (‘93), Webbies posed for a picture to commemorate this experience. Webbies’ formal attire immerses them in the professional world. “I was definitely inspired by the court case...and Judge Frimpong as well,” Christina Teng (‘27) said. For Just Plane Fun, Webbies dove headfirst into the world of flight — from planes to humans — for three fun-filled days. Exploring flight simulators, historical figures, an air shipping facility, and indoor skydiving, students were fully immersed into the field of aeronautics.

Some Webbies need to travel to different countries during breaks or personal leaves. Tina Wang (‘24), posing in a sleeping position, went back to China to celebrate Lunar New Year during February break. “Going straight back to school after travelling has always been a challenging process for me,” Tina said. Webbies can learn some strategies to cope with such issues.

Caution tape was placed near the library to make students aware of the bees near the library. The Fawcett library was swarmed with bees during long lunch on Monday, March 18th, which triggered an evacuation of students. “I was sitting in the library as this was happening and probably within 10 minutes I was evacuated,” Mirabel Raphael (‘24) said. “They told me that I had to leave through the back door. I felt like I was escaping from some kind of emergency.”

Students embrace nature through exploration of museums, zoos, care centers, and natural habitats. “I realize that there are so many plants and animals native to California, and this is something others do not normally have,” Tina Wang (‘24) said. This meaningful trip inspires people to reflect on the beauty of nature and wildlife around us.

Whether it is popping on a new vinyl or traveling across the world, Jenny Tran (‘24) likes to immerse herself in the moment and explore the culture around her. You can find her hanging out with friends in the South Hutch common room or listening to various music genres at any place and time. Her favorite artists include Suboi, Keshi, Tyler the Creator, and Blackpink. Whether across the Pacific Ocean in California or in her hometown of Hanoi, Vietnam, Jenny is probably watching the radiant moon listening to Super Rich Kids by Frank Ocean. At Webb, Jenny shines a light on women’s issues in different countries, Asian rights, and ESVI. As she moves into her third year on the Webb Canyon Chronicle, she hopes to continue advocating for her beliefs while exploring new mediums like poetry or photo galleries. As a Public Editor, Jenny also wants to bring more inventive and comedic ideas to the table.
