Bella Schnurer

Bella Schnurer, Staff Writer

From outsmarting her friends on the chessboard to dreaming of opening a wildlife sanctuary, Bella Schnurer’s (‘27) world is a mix of strategy and creativity. Although she only started playing chess two years ago following a light-hearted competition with a friend quickly transformed into an earnest pursuit. Bella's dedication led her to a chess academy, where she trains regularly, determined to achieve a Woman FIDE Master title someday. Today, she balances her time between studying and volunteering at a non-profit chess organization, where she shares her love for the game by teaching others. Beyond the pawns, rooks and queens, Bella’s aspirations range from entrepreneurship to maintaining shelter for animals in Africa. With her sights set high and a love for learning and exploring, Bella has the spirit of a true strategist always planning her next move. This year, she’s eager to bring her very own perspective and storytelling skills to the Webb Canyon Chronicle, capturing the interests and passions of her peers through her writing.
