Although the term involution encompasses many disciplines, its definitions all involve a self-complicating cycle that achieves no progress. Like the inward spiral in the thumbnail image, the academic culture at Webb has become intoxicatingly competitive with less genuine curiosity for learning. This norm of increased stress, however, only strains oneself and others around them with unnecessary anxiety.

At Sage Hill School in Newport Beach, CA, students who attended the AsEA conference gather around for a picture on the last day of the conference. Students hailed from four different private schools— St. Johns School in Houston Texas, Sage Hill School in Newport, CA, Crossroads School in Santa Monica, CA, and The Webb Schools of California. Webb Canyon Chronicle journalists performed “Our Song” by Taylor Swift with George Cardenas (‘23) on the piano, Jovana Luna (‘24) and David Hastings (‘22) on the guitars, and the others singing. As the second major group performance, the group spirit moved the audience to wave with the music.
