Gliding through the pool, the gym, and especially Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail, Patrick has spent his years at Webb learning how to show up consistently, even when no one is watching . A member of Webb’s swim team for four years, he understands the importance of being disciplined, patient, and part of something larger than himself. This same steadiness follows him outside the water, including playing ping-pong in the Ruddick Room, hanging out with friends in North Hutch or upper dorms, or going on a Webb run to 99 Ranch for hotpot. This may just seem like a fun collection of routines, but it is where Patrick’s influence is most visible: people begin to feel less out of place around him. As the Head Prefect at North Hutch, Patrick has ascended beyond just being a leader; he has become the person his dorm residents can look to when they need help. Through planned activities at dorm meetings and moments of humor, like when prefects choreographed a series of TikTok dances for NoHo’s Webb Idol performance, Patrick has helped make any space he’s a part of feel less intimidating and more like home. Next year, though Patrick will “open” a new safe space at Occidental College, he leaves behind the legacy of what it means to be a true leader, especially for everyone who learned from him how to feel safe, comfortable, cared for, and ready to lead others.
