If you see a group of girls crowded together in Soho, chances are Samantha is somewhere in the middle of it all, probably lying across someone’s lap while her Birkenstocks sit abandoned on the floor nearby. She somehow makes every space feel a little warmer simply by being there. As the youngest of three sisters, you might expect her to be carefree, but Sammi is deeply attentive to the people around her. She is the first person to notice when a friend is upset or when someone feels left out in a crowd. No matter how stressed she is with summatives or tests, she will always put aside her own work when someone she loves needs her. That care shaped every part of her life at Webb. As a dorm prefect, Sammi treated underclassmen like her own sisters. Whether she was killing a spider or listening to someone vent late at night, she became both the problem-solver and comfort person of Soho. The same thing happened in water polo, where she earned herself a fan club throughout the season. Sammi has a way of turning ordinary corners of campus into places where people linger a little longer. Next year, Soho—especially that worn-in sofa—will feel a little less warm without her curled up in the middle of it.
