After the return from winter break, many classes became emptier and quieter with some students participating online. In one math class, most students, including Lam Tran (‘24), had to Zoom with groupmates who are under quarantine or isolation to work on problems. From the absence of familiar faces in the classroom to the cancellation of sports games, it is not difficult to tell the omicron variant has greatly impacted life at Webb.

As day students returned to campus on Tuesday, January 4th, they waited inside their vehicles at the gym parking lot to be tested. The line was very long as each student had to wait for 15 minutes for the test result. Only students with negative test results were allowed on campus. Nevertheless, for the next three days, Webb still experienced an increase of COVID-19 cases, with seven students who tested positive on Friday.

At the end of every year, Spotify does a “Spotify Wrapped,” a summary of a listener’s music habits. Students all around campus were randomly chosen to show their Spotify Wrapped, and the data was compiled into one big summary: Webb Wrapped 2021.

Allison Paik (‘22) shoots in the Webb vs. Gary game that took place on November 18th. Webb ended up losing by only one point, a score of 39-40. Also pictured are Leeann Shu (‘22), Pristine Thomas (‘25), and Karma Griggs (‘23) who unfortunately suffered mild injuries from the game and had to sit out for the remainder of the fourth quarter. Despite the one-point difference, the VWS basketball team were very proud of the way they played and hope to bring the same spirits up in their future games.

The two club players prepare to leave the field right after practice to drive to their club practices. “I can never help put stuff away because I always have to leave Webb as soon as possible to get to my club practice,” Ella said.
