Emma Liu (‘26) has a keen sense of dedication and creativity. She is always a colorful presence on campus, spreading amazing talents like a bee pollinating the flowers. Originally from Shanghai, Emma has been passionate about dance since kindergarten. Despite taking a brief pause, she rekindled her love for it last year with the Webb dance company. This summer, she expanded her dance repertoire by diving into K–pop, jazz, and hip–hop. However, Emma’s enthusiasm extends beyond dance: she also broadened her horizons by exploring different countries in the world and indulging her passion of reading and writing.  As the founder of the Business club, she showcases her leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Academically, she enjoys humanities courses the most, particularly Advanced Studies Faith Narrative of the Holy Cities, and has been actively involved in theatre for the past two years. Emma often spends her weekends with her ragdoll cat and poodle dog, watching action and fantasy movies, and of course, busting out a couple new moves for her two furry friends. Just like her pets, she holds her advocacy for environmental issues and feminism very close to her, highlighting her commitment to making a positive impact on the world. In addition to her leadership and passion for art, she hopes to bring kindness and authenticity to journalism through her work in the publication.

Female cat Fuego –– “Fire” in Spanish –– belongs to Susanna Linsley, Director of Experiential Learning. Fuego waves at the camera, welcoming you to hear her story. The name “Fuego” was suggested by Dr. Linsley’s kids, as they liked the idea that it is one of the threats California constantly faces; naming their cat “Fire” symbolizes their kitten is the fierce protector of their realm. Along with her brother Oso, Fuego is the one of the two first kittens adopted by Dr. Linsley and her family. “We knew we wanted two of them because I had two kids,” said Dr. Linsley. “I also think everybody needs company.”

Parents visited the Honors Spanish 3 class at Webb taught by Ms. Viviana Nicolosi. Students in the class sat in a circle on the ground as they engaged in activities and interacted with one another. Parents also participated in activities such as “Chocolate,” where parents were paired with their kids, clapping while shouting out: “chocolate.” As Carolyn Wang (‘26) shared, “on Family Day, I had a great time in my classes, especially in Spanish class, where we played games.”

Aurora Deng (’26) is doing Saturday check-in at Stockdale Community Center with the new application REACH and its embedded NFC tag. “I like it more [now that] we don’t have to do the sign-in books because there used to be a long line,” said Jacky Qi. ”NFC tags are a lot faster.” Before NFC tags were implemented, students had to sign the physical check-in books every Saturday.
