Gianna Darden (‘26), exudes the charm and radiant smile of a bunny. Although friends may compare Gianna to a bunny, she embodies more traits of an owl. Not only are owls Gianna’s favorite animal, but they guide her star sign, Sagittarius. Sagittarius are most known for being ambitious and passionate. Gianna demonstrates these traits through her dedication to women's rights. In fact, she is driven to make a change in feminine products being affordable for everyone. According to Sagittarius Traits, Sagittarius are also known for “cherishing family ties.” Gianna's closeness with her family enabled her to adopt her passion for women's rights. One of Gianna's favorite activities is eating dinner with her family and discussing controversial topics, like choosing DC over Marvel. Gianna also enjoys being in nature. Like owls, Gianna relishes being surrounded by nature. According to Sagittarius Spirit Animals owls are known for being “clear-sighted and having a different view of the world.” This year, Gianna hopes to bring different perspectives to the Webb Canyon Chronicle to discuss important, controversial, and funny topics with the Webb Community.

As Webbies reminisce on the team’s remarkable progression through CIF, the question of how this team made it this far begins to appear. “Everyone on the team gets along, and with new people coming in and stepping up in leadership, we have really good shot at CIF next year,” Geniya Parker (‘26) said.

The Bonnie Johnson Hall stands as the latest addition to Webb’s campus, containing modern technology and an underground storage space allotted to storing fossilized tracks. This addition was gifted to Webb by donors and is a result of a lengthy yet rewarding construction process.

Jay Pang (25’) and Aaron Yang (25’) wear masks while working with Armen Xue (25’) on an assignment, modeling a new era in COVID-19 control at Webb. Webb no longer requires mandatory isolation for cases without severe symptoms due to a decrease in the severity of COVID-19 seen in LA County. “This is a welcome change, especially for international boarders since they don’t need to look for somewhere to stay if they get COVID” Armen said. Webb used to enforce a five-day mandatory isolation period off-campus for students who test positive, which required students to find a place to stay in case of infection.

In preparation for the incoming volleyball season, Jacob Zhang (‘26) practices serving the ball during the WSC Clinics. Despite the ascent to Les Perry Gym, prospective students interested in playing Volleyball this Spring will have to make the climb. “Volleyball clinic was a great way to get to know the players on the teams and coaches and to work on my skill,” Samantha Crawford (‘26) said. Whether it is the VWS or WSC volleyball clinic, the experience serves as an important building block for all players.

As Webb students depart from campus to enjoy the rest of the holiday season, it provides the perfect time to look back and see how Webb decorated their spaces to celebrate this festive season. This year, the Price Dining Hall is displaying a gorgeous, 20-foot Christmas tree, beautifully lit and decorated. Lighting up the Christmas trees with various colorful ornaments, Webb’s community service afternoon activity contributed greatly to the setup and assembling of the artificial tree. “It was very fun to set up the tree and bring holiday cheer!” Frannie Hinch (‘25) said. For many others, decorating the campus for community service has been rewarding to see the joy they bring to students, faculty, and staff.

The front entrance to the Raymond Alf Museum lawn recently underwent renovations that will result in an accessible pathway with native plants. In front of the building is a wooden plot containing native plant species planted by the Native Plant Society. “It’s great that our work has a spotlight in one of the more important areas on campus” said Theresa Hu (‘24). Many students know of the added path being built but few have noticed the native plants surrounding it.
