Some people brighten up a room when they walk into it; Gianna Darden somehow brightens up an entire campus. Warm, bubbly, and endlessly full of life, Gianna is, in every sense of the phrase, the human embodiment of “looks like a cinnamon roll, is a cinnamon roll.” From matcha runs and spontaneous side quests to beach days, shopping trips, and laughing with friends during lunch, Gianna moves through Webb with the kind of energy that makes people naturally gravitate toward her. She is the kind of friend who steals clothes from your closet, takes candid photos of you laughing, says yes to any function, and shows up to dances, games, and class events with the biggest smile and genuine excitement. But beneath the sweetness and bubbly persona is someone deeply self-aware, intelligent, and far more thoughtful than people may initially assume. Through her leadership as a peer advisor, Head Editor of the Webb Canyon Chronicle, and balancing shifts at her job on top of everything else, it became clear that Gianna is not only an innocent cinnamon bun but someone incredibly competent and capable. Despite her busy schedule and responsibilities, she never lost the softness that made people feel comfortable around her in the first place. As Gianna prepares to begin her pre-law journey in college, there is no doubt that California Polytechnic State University will become a little brighter with Gianna’s presence.
