If you ever lose a limb, get ready to call Simon Xu. Whether he’s building robotic arms or go-karts, his hands are never idle. From day to night, you’ll find him in his garage, working on a new project as time slips away. When he’s not active with the power tools, you might find him lifting in the gym or preparing for wrestling season, strengthening his own appendages. But Simon doesn’t just build with metal and motion. Just as easily forging deep connections, he considers his friends to be the most defining part of his Webb experience. For them, he is a confidant — the kind of person that friends seek out late at night. He opens himself, the highs and the lows, to his friendships. As someone who is sensitive, raw, emotionally aware, he’ll always stick around to hold your hand. Next year, Simon will attend Washington University in St. Louis, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering, bringing the same hands that build machines and the care that builds people to Missouri.
