If you have met Michael Albornoz, you know he does not do anything halfway. Whether he is playing Daniel Caesar on repeat, giving his all in sports, or staying late on campus with friends, Michael shows up fully for the people and communities that matter to him. That commitment has created a pattern of care: when Michael finds something meaningful, he invests in it completely. At Webb, that care shows up across campus. In football, it meant giving his all during a season that brought Webb to its first home playoff game in over 30 years. In golf, that same dedication carried through to a CIF championship win, shared with teammates and Mr. Hebert, his coach and role model. It also shows up in the classroom, where teachers like Mr. Choi, one of his “GOAT” teachers, makes learning feel worth the effort of showing up. Beyond athletics and academics, Michael cares deeply about the kind of community Webb is, bringing his commitment to fairness, community, and representation into Honor Council and Asian Affinity. Still, the memories he holds closest are the simple ones: food runs to Rowland Heights for Korean barbecue and Tofu House, late nights on campus with friends in the dorms. That same care for people also draws Michael toward computer science and information technology, not just as a field of problem-solving, but to use technology to support communities and create accessibility for others. As he heads to the University of California, San Diego, to study computer science, Michael carries the same mindset. Guided by the saying, “Pain is inevitable. Misery is a choice,” he leaves Webb knowing that doing nothing halfway means meeting each challenge with the same care he brings everywhere.
