Catherine Shen, Editor of Audiovisual
It seems as though Catherine Shen (‘25) can do it all. Beyond the ability to light up someone’s day with a fun spirit, Catherine is an artist with a deep love for religion and political science. Like a 3D collage made from a variety of materials, Catherine’s diverse interests make up her character and identity. This past summer, Catherine not only spent time at UCLA but also traveled to China to work on a documentary about Tibetan Buddhism and women’s leadership in religion. However, her documentary is not the only thing that captures her passions. A passionate artist, Catherine expresses her identity through installation art, using different materials to incorporate themes such as Buddhism. When Catherine isn’t the overachieving older sister we all look up to, she is playing Identity V, eating snacks while watching romance shows, or enjoying Shangcheng Lameizi hotpot with friends. As the WCC’s Editor of Audiovisual, she hopes to start media related projects, including podcasts or videos regarding current political and social issues such as women’s rights. From documenting women’s leadership in religion to making installation art, Catherine’s life is a large-scale, mixed-media construction of art, religion, political science, friends, family, food, and horror escape rooms.
