Wura Ogunnaike, Staff Writer

Wura Ogunnaike (‘23) is a sophomore boarding student from Redlands, California and a first-year staff writer on the Webb Canyon Chronicle. Wura’s academic interests now lie in the Humanities; her love of writing and passion for social justice drew her to the Journalism program. She hopes her platform at the WCC will allow her to speak on issues she feels strongly about, especially immigration and the Black Lives Matter movement. She is an avid hiker and recommends you explore the coastal trails of San Diego’s Torrey Pines. She likes to unwind by watching movies like Cool Runnings and Sailor Moon and listening to Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage. She is passionate about Nigerian culture, citing spectacular wedding ceremonies and West African cuisine like jollof rice as sources of great pride. Wura looks forward to the surprises this year will bring and will undoubtedly be a valuable contributor to the Webb Canyon Chronicle.
