Yuki Layman

Yuki Layman, Public Editor

As she begins her senior year at Webb, Yuki Layman (‘25) starts a new episode of her life in exploring her passion for making an impact by helping others. Along with volunteering at the Smithsonian Museum Summer Festival to give back to her home community of Washington D.C. this past summer, Yuki also aspires to make prominent changes that impact modern-day society and bring opportunities to the less fortunate. A true protagonist at heart, she strives to learn more about the status quo, allowing herself to delve into the world’s current news while also focusing on the people around her. For example, Yuki enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including attending concerts, binge-watching Gravity Falls, baking, visiting the beach, or just studying at a local café. On top of her warm hospitality and attention for others, she is always able to find time for herself by journaling, dancing, or listening to a variety of songs including “Bad Religion” by Frank Ocean, “10%” by KAYTRANADA, and “When You Sleep” by My Bloody Valentine. Returning as the Public Editor of the WCC this year, Yuki adds a new highlight to the newsroom with her drive towards producing impactful articles to inspire more audiences.

Although the weather was foggy, the beach was still filled with other corgis and attendees. “I really enjoyed relaxing on the beach near the ocean, along with the company of so many puppies,” Annalise Centeno (’26) said. The event was a huge success.

Side by side is Laura Caribe’s (’25) room pictured both before and after it was made. As depicted above, you can see there is a direct relationship between the messiness of your bed and your stress levels. “If I wake up and feel rushed, I just know for the rest of the day I’ll be more anxious,” Laura Caribe (’25) said. It is integral to practice this habit of making your bed to reduce these emotions and develop consistency in your life.
